Tom,

You either have a worn spindle motor, readily available from
dalbani, mcm, andrews, tritronics and a multitude of other suppliers, or a
crack in the small gear on the tracking assy.
Sounds like a spindle motor offhand.
Make sure you measure the disc table height before you pull it off.
You may also want to inspect the laser lense with a high power magnifier.
The lasers in those units quite often get a fungal like growth on them that
you cant see with the naked eye.

Subject: [TechAssist] BOSE CD3000 not reading cd's

Greetings,
This Bose am/fm/cd stereo came in today and the problem is it
will not play burned cd's and when it tries to play store bought cd's it has
a hard time or will not read about first 5 or 6 tracks. go to track 7 or up
and reads much better, does this sound like laser pick-up is weak or spindal
motor, has anyone seen this type of behavior on Bose or any other audio cd
units as the cure might be the same. No schematic. Thanks
