I’m not going to be able to make it to robotics tonight. I pulled a muscle in my neck and I can hardly hold my head up straight. I’ll be there on Monday. Please see the dates below and respond with which dates you would like to help. I would like to shoot for 1 or 2 mentors and a few students for each meeting. *Friday, February 25th (Already a full team meeting) *Saturday, February 26th Monday, February 28th (Already a full team meeting) Tuesday, March 1st I will make this meeting Wednesday, March 2nd Thursday, March 3rd Friday, March 4th I will make this meeting Saturday, March 5th (Already a full team meeting) Monday, March 7th (Already a full team meeting) The ones with a * I may be out of town for. The other ones as indicated I will be at. Let me know who can make these other meeting dates. Just as a reminder, here is a list of the things that we need to complete also: 1) Stop bracket for the minibot deployment arm. 2) Tweak minibot deployment alignments (I think we should attempt to adjust the forward / back position on the deployment arm by a little bit. Who knows… maybe 1/32nd of an inch might make it come off the pole easier…. It’s an experiment we should at least try. 3) Possibly add a protector plate for the minibot and mount it on the deployment arm. 4) Mounting bracket for the magnetic rotary encoder on the arm… (back-up plan would be to tweak the mounting of the optical rotary encoder). 5) Robot overview and judges questions training 6) Scouting strategy session 7) Game rules and scoring training (whole team) 8) Driving strategy session 9) Gracious professionalism and competition behavior expectations session 10) Chairmans award presentation practice sessions I’m sure I’m missing a few things… but this is a good start. Just in time before ship. Weight may be an issue. It weighs about 105 pounds without the lift/gripper I need to build and without the minibot deployment fixture. When we get to the competition and get everything mounted, we will likely have to shed some weight. I was estimating the lift would weigh around 20 - 25 pounds. I will need to try to reduce the lift weight as much as possible without making it to weak. I think the drive team probably has around 10 pounds or more in nuts and bolts alone. They did not put much thought into weigh control when working through the design. It will just be a fun challenge ahead :) My plans will be to come over to your shop starting this Friday the 25th. It would be nice to get in this Saturday, the 26th, if possible and then for sure again next Monday, the 28th and most of next week. I hope I can get everything made by the end of Saturday, Mar 5th. Enclosed are a few pictures of the bot. The center of gravity is very low. We have Mecanum wheels and a set of traction wheels to do some pushing if needed. I will give you a call Thursday night to confirm. I will check with the others that plan to come and let you know. We will not be able to make it over today or tomorrow. We are still trying to get the bot running. We don't have any pneumatics connected yet and only half of the wiring is done. It will be a miracle if we get the bot moving my tomorrow night. We are pretty much done cutting chips, so you guys are welcome to come by today or tomorrow if you are ready. Our meetings after that are on the following nights: Friday the 25th, Monday the 1st, Saturday the 5th, Monday the 7th. Then we leave for milwaukee on Wednesday and Thursday. Myself and a few other mentors have agreed to split up the other nights you might want to meet at eigerlab, so this week, you can let me know which nights you want to work over here, and I'll make sure at least one of our mentors is available to meet. Between these meetings, and having each of our mentors fill in for a night, I think we can get almost a week of work in at our shop before the Milwaukee competition. After that, we can evaluate what needs to be done and schedule some more meeting nights at our shop. Let me know if this works for you, and what nights this week you would want to come in (also as I said, today and tomorrow are free too). Give me a call. Thanks, Adam 414-236-9509
