From a (YO!) street point of view! We have found that if anything the slide and lock mounts for both corners are possibly too tight, which tend to break the plastic bosses and their mounts rather than move out of alignment. Although this sounds a contradiction in terms, unfortunately when the mounts are damaged it makes it impossible to tighten the heads again without replacing the mounting equipment. It would be preferable to have a mount with some give, which would allow the signal head to be re-aligned and tightened, rather than damage the mounting bosses. The grey corner's friction mounts were pretty good for this! Of course best practice means that the possibility of RTA damage would be designed out!!!!! We must force the HA to be prescriptive on ELV supply! Unfortunately the failure rate was too high to make them cost effective: 3 lamps in one year. However, the new LED heads with the Centre mounted Led Source (***) have proven very reliable and I am happy with them. In Sefton, we now have many sites with these lanterns... good lantern design too. The only dampener is that these particular heads cannot be converted (so I'm told) to work with the new Extra Low Voltage controllers, they will have a specifically designed LED head which obviously does not need a power supply. So creating an ELV site where you have existing LED heads would not seem as simple as replacing the controller and removing some PSU's. I don't know if any kind of converter may become available, I will check with Mr Blue. (Blue sky thinking required, presumably). What are peoples experiences with the robustness of signal heads from the red and blue corner? From practical experience does one survive up better than another. Thanks Matt Smith.
