Terry, When we raised this option with the HA their reply was that the use of ELV does not remove the need for disconnection as the impacted pole need to be volt free and non tethered. The issue of departures would remain for the use of Aluminium poles as they are yet to be approved. Naturally the advantages of the monitoring and disconnection system are worth considering and we have used the system successfully on a couple of sites. In particular with regard to whether they have been install= ed in pole sockets as opposed to the precast foundation and also regarding cable termination and electrical disconnection.=20 All the previous passive safety scheme we have installed have used the Al= coa Aluminium poles where we have terminated the DOT plug cables behind the access door however we are looking for options with poles that avoid the need for departures.=20 Julian Smith Traffic Signal Engineer AmeyMouchel (Area 9) Tel: 01905 683221 FeatureNet: 7969 3221 Mobile: 07979 707739 ********************************************************************** CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: The information in this e-mail is confidential and intended to be solely for the use of the addressee(s) and may contain copyright and/or legally privileged information.
