Are we doing the "closest to 16,000 feet"?

It seemed like some were interested. I offered to help keep track of the
results, so did someone else (I forget who). Is anybody actually going to
fly it though?

Other contests?

Well, I'll be holding a NAR contest. There are several events, I'd say the
E Eggloft Altitude and Classic Model events might hold the most interest. E
eggloft altitude is what it sounds like, use an E motor and get an egg as
high as possible, using an altimeter to see how high it went. Classic Model
involves building a replica of an "old" pre-1990 kit. Full details here,
email me with questions if you're interested:

Do we want t-shirts again? I can do pre-orders and only a few extras this
time.

I doubt my new Nike will be ready by then, but I should be going for my L3
at OS.

Anyone wanna do anything special for october skies... drag race, fastest to
?, fastest rocket period, any other ideas? i figure if we are going to do
something we will all need some time to design, buy/make parts, build etc.

There's a new airport opening in Nevada today (Aug. 29, 2011) but you'll
need a ticket to fly there and it will be gone without a trace in 10 days.
Burning Man <http://www.burningman.com/> , the formerly impromptu, uh,
cultural gathering in the Black Rock Desert, runs until Sept. 5. About
50,000 people create an almost instant city where "radical self expression"
is among the guiding principals. Well, few cities that size are without an
airport and each year a group of Burning Man participants who are pilots and
aviation enthusiasts create a temporary, FAA-designated (88NV) facility
called Black Rock City Airport <http://www.portofentry.org/> . In a podcast
interview, airport Communications Director Dean Siracusa says the airport is
laid out on the dry lake bed and features a 5,280-foot runway which can, and
regularly does, accommodate light jets. More...
