A true Pioneer and I can only imagine the stories he could share.

leonov passed away after long illness. I think He was 85.
I still remember the day as a young boy in school during show and tell
when someone brought in a newspaper that had the grainy picture of a
ghostly white figure floating against the blackness of space. It was
Leonov becoming the first person to walk in space back in March of 1965.
That was a big deal because it was in the midst of the Space Race between
the Soviets and the US. We did not realize until later that the spacewalk
nearly killed him. Ed white became the first american to spacewalk 3 months
later in the Gemini program but once again we were chasing the Russians.
Just wanted to post this in his memory. I would have loved to have met
with him and talk about his exploits.
