If I had tied down my canopy correctly I'd still have my caravan 10 x 10 but ...
Costco has Canopies.
Potentially look there.
They will also deliver for free.
That's how I got my replacement.
Website notes:
Do we launch in Feb? I thought we clean rails instead.
Do we launch in Sept? I think a lot of us will be at Balls.
December is a no launch month for sure (more rib eye please).
Speaking of Feb cleaning. Is there a chance we can get a 1/4 inch rod attached
to a chunk of rail.
Not all the stands will hold a rod but all will take a rail. (actually I think
only one of the stands will hold a rod the rest have set screws that are too
short).
One last thought:
Just thinking a set of walkie talkies would be pretty handy when we do LDRS.
We could also offer them up to people hunting for their rockets (maybe they
leave an ID as collateral). That way those looking for rockets and finding
someone elses rocket could let them know.

My EZ-UP was made in 1999 and is looking rough but it's still usable. The
commercial EZ-UPs are much stronger than the consumer versions. You can get
repair parts for them too.
I've seen a couple recommendations for EurMax hex legged canopies.
http://www.eurmax.com/ They also carry repair parts.

Eurmax has the largest selection on shelter product such as pop up canopies,
gazebos, party tents, parasols and marquees. We are the high quality and low
price leader.

I've been using this type of tarp canopy for a few years now. It's more work,
but once it's set up you don't need to worry about it. At the very windy
October launch it held steady, and at Black Rock I've never had to take it
down. So it's low maintenance once up. Agree on a day launch it's a lot or
work for a afternoon.

WOW, no I hadn't seen the weight! And yeah, I figured the set-up would be a
bitch for 1-day launches, but maybe worth the work for a 3-day or LDRS.

What about this type of tarp canopy?? I know they are heavier and more work to
assemble, but in talking to some folks, they say they cut the wind really well.
I've seen them at ldrs and they seem to stay put in high wind.
I've seen kits that include the fittings, tarp anchors etc. (Everything but the
poles) Then we buy the metal poles at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. Kits range in
pipe size from electrical conduit to metal chain-link fence poles.

While the size of our pop-up is great.........the price was great......... the
weight was great........ it was way too flimsy and probably already damaged
from the last windy day. Lesson learned.

Hey Folks,
Please find below some club updates for everyone and recap of discussions at
our Party.
Finance
As Richard mentioned, we have about $10K in the bank - some things we plan to
do this year
- Something nice for Steve
- New Wireless launch system
- New Trailer
- New PA with FM Broadcast
Other items folks think we need, let me or Aaron know.
Website -
We will go live after you guys test it out, please see below:
http://www.tccrockets.com/v2
Please visit http://www.tccrockets.com/v2 to give it a shot - make sure you ;
register and put just your name, email information in here and your account
will get approved if you've already signed up to
freelists.org<//freelists.org> (which means we have your info already).
Some cool features:
- New look and feel
- Banners we will update every month (I pre-populated what I can from some
shots I found worthy of front page)
- We will have auto-post FB syndication, a chat room, and the ability to post
articles
- All the content will be there, just slightly reorganized and with a new Fly
theme
- Members, they can post their own content and we can have all sorts of media
and videos to make it fun
- Build articles/forum - that will be there too
Like I said at the Party, all of you folks who take a lot of killer pictures, I
want you all to start posting on the new website and driving traffic to our
site and to facebook; it will get more people out at the launch and drive team
support and revenue. One thing though, if you took pictures at a TCC launch,
post to our site first, when it shows up on the TCC FB Page, you can always
share t to TRA or NAR.
The point is that if you took pictures at our launch, please have the courtesy
to give us credit for it since it will drive revenue to the launch.
New FAA Altitude Waivers
- Like I said, I'm working on getting more Altitude for us - no commitment yet,
but we will see
Prefects
Gary Walker and Bruce Rohn are our Prefect's, they swap turns every year or so,
it is a LOT of work. This year, Bruce is back and will be our Prefect, next year
it will be Gary. I want everyone to give all of these guys a great thank you,
they help everyone get their certs done, run a lot of the launch and handle
technical questions all day, most importantly they keep everyone safe and sane
and keep the launch running.
Special Projects
OO-Nike
This year, we plan to launch "Double-O Nike" - this will be a two-stage 2/3
scale Nike-Nike smoke (a complex P impulse) project which is over 20ft tall and
weighs about 300lbs. It will be powered by a CTI O5100/O4900 and we plan to fly
it at BALLS. Me and Jack G started this project and planned drag races but
never got around to it. Now it is Jack G, me, Scott Y, Rod L, Richard K, Mike
Smith, Bruce,, Gary, Aaron and an everyone else who wants to participate to get
this one flying at BALLS this year. We plan to meet after our next launch at
Rod's and then generally we will meet the 4th weekend of the month (after our
launch) in Fresno to build.
We can discuss more at January launch.
LDRS
Aaron, Rod and I are working on LDRS for 2018, we plan to get everything
together this year and when Aaron gets
the final go on the field, we can move forward.
First launch of 2017
First launch will be 01/21/17 (Saturday) - third weekend of the month for all
of 2017 - if you look at the website above
I have all of the launch dates for 2017 listed on the calendar.
Finally, I hope everyone has a great Holiday and a Happy New Year!
Best regards
-James
