Hi Rod it is a Java application and needs that to run. So get Java
runtime environment installed first from Oracle.

Rob,
I don't think I've met you.. I'm somewhat new to the scene.. but can
provide a little feedback:
I'd suggest you download OpenRocket, and a simulation model for the Madcow
Patriot 4" FG. Or you can simply make your own model.. it's not too hard
to learn. There you'll be able to track your Cp vs. Cg easily as long as
you put in the correct dimension and component weights. If you really do
need nose weight, you'll want to have 1 or more "calibers" of stability.
1 caliber is 1 times the diameter of your rocket.. thus 4". So, once you
know your Center of Pressure, Cp, you'll want to make sure your fully
assembled rocket including motor balances at least 4" forward of the Cp
point.
As for JLCR and drogue... Are you going with motor ejection/deployment
only? Since kit is a bit heavy being FG, perhaps a small 9" to 15" drogue
would be a good idea. I assumed you'd pack that with the main to come out
with the nosecone? I flew my lighter Estes Pro Series kits without a
drogue and a JLCR on the main set to 300-500 ft. The nomex cloth chute
protector acted like a pseudo-drogue for those lighter kits. For your
heavier FG rocket, I'd suggest not setting it below 500' for your first
flights.
Take a close look at the performace of your main chute.. it seems a bit
small for a 5+ lb rocket. Perhaps it's ok.

I'm planning on getting and using the jolly logic chute release.
I have a 36" chute for the main.
What size drogue should I go with.
I also need to add nose weight but I am unsure as to how much.
Any thoughts?
