I would be interested in one of the LDRS specials instead of Nike Apache now.
Build pile is big, but I can't pass a great deal.

Nike Apache - this is a REALLY cool kit, it has a fiberglass transition and is
awesome Curtis tube and nosecone construction (38 conical nosecone
and filament wound transition) with 4" Nike Booster like the kit without a
nosecone. In fact it is exactly the same. The problem is that Mike had them
on sale for Black Friday at $100 and as usual Curtis can't keep up with
production since 50 of them sold out in almost one minute.
So here is the deal, for LDRS, we can get $37 off of the kit which lists for
$224, this makes it $187. And we will get the rocket sometime in February.
The reason we can't get the $100 price is because those kits haven't even
shipped yet and Curtis is losing money. But we will get the kits before
LDRS with at least time to build it. One other thing on the Nike Apache - if
you ordered it now, you
would get the booster and the nosecone and upper
stage would come later
(the Filament wound transitiion is the production problem - Curtis is getting
70% yield - up from 20% and has new mandrels now).
What Rod was suggesting is an LDRS Special Kit and Mike is looking into it. If
you guys still want the Nike Apache, let me know - I will still be getting
one to add to the Nike fleet.
We have at least 20 people now; how many are interested in the LDRS design
(probably $100) and how many people still want the Nike Apache knowing
these will only get more expensive in the future ... ?
