Hi All,

Denis reminded me that I am supposed to be writing up some stories about the
various busses I'ved owned for a book that Tom Brouillette is putting
together.

If you want more info, email Tom at the address below.

Following is a description (the working title is Bus Love: Stories of Life
and Adventure with the VW Bus):

NEW VW BUS BOOK WANTS YOUR STORY:

A collection of stories of life and adventure with the VW Bus is coming
together! Were looking for tales of travel adventure; tidbits of daily life
with a VW Bus; memories of your first sighting of a Bus; the first Bus you
ever owned; weddings and celebrations where VW Buses held a prominent
position; stories of Bus enthusiasm passed down from generation to
generationanything related to the glories (and agonies) of VW Busing. Photos
and artwork are welcome. The book has an emphasis on pre-1968 Type 2s, but
stories of later year Buses and Vanagons are very welcome, too.

From the Introduction:

I edited NEATOs Old Bus Review from 1989-1998. During that time I met
hundreds of VW Bus enthusiasts around the US, Canada and overseas. Many
friendships were formed as we enjoyed the challenges and pleasures of owning
a vintage VW Bus.

This book began as a realization, as stories poured in every month from the
far corners of the globe, that there is probably no other motor vehicle that
has so well inspired its owners to enjoy life on the road and write down
these experiences. As contributing author John Lago states: "experiences
that would not have happened while driving any other vehicle."

This book challenges the stereotype of VW Bus owners as long-haired hippies
(though we have among us proud members of this tribe). Rather, this book
should enhance the image of a VW Bus owner as creative and self-sufficient
and with a vehicle like this, you've got to have a sense of humor!
