Donnerfest?  So like if there isn't enough food we can resort to cannibalism?

That would be unlike me to name something after myself, I am so demure.  But
that is a great one!

Good news!  Alma Jo has some charcoal to donate.

So does this happening at my place need a name?  I think Mike referred to it
as a shindig, so maybe that is we what we should call it.  But I am not
trying to make this a huge event, mainly TCBers and some other VW friends.
I am not going to be posting up about it on Air Coolers or any big place
like that.

So it will be an open yard from Friday September 21st at 8pm until Sunday
September 23rd at 8pm.  Come for awhile or stay and camp the whole weekend.

As for food and drink, this is what I am thinking.  I will provide the
condiments like ketchup and and mayo and mustard and pickles and stuff like
that and some lettuce and tomatoes and coleslaw and beans and sauerkraut.
You guys bring your own meat and bread and plates and anything else you want
to eat.  I will also provide iced tea.  If you guys want something more to
drink, that will be up to you.  For breakfast I can provide muffins and
coffee and OJ and milk.  Again, if you guys want something more than that
you are welcome to being it and cook it.

I have been trying to come up with a way that is easy for you guys and easy
for me too.  I hope my food/drink plan works out well for everybody.

There is a lazy river pool and a hot tub for your enjoyment.  Fun noodles
are best for floating around the river.  I think I have 4 good ones right
now but maybe there are more.  I will do a count and get some more if I can
find any left in the stores.  If I think we will need more I will ask you
guys to bring some if you have some.

My yard is rough Hill Country land, not a barefoot friendly sort of place.
Work has been done to tame it some.  There are plenty of places to park that
are flat and shaded.  If it is cool enough for a campfire at night I have
plenty of wood.  No need to bring any.  (At this point there is no burn ban
in the Hays or Blanco county, I live in Hays county but the neighborhood is
partially in Blanco county too.) The closest store or gas station is 12
miles from my house so it is wise to bring what you need with you and not to
arrive with a gas gauge near empty.

If you bring your dog you should know that the property is fenced but there
are holes in the fence and with people coming and going the gates might not
be shut and even if they are shut a dog that wants to get out probably can.
I have 4 cats that will be staying in the house, but it is possible that one
might sneak out now and then.  If your dog wants to eat cats please don't
bring him or please keep him on a leash. One of my cats is mentally
challenged, clueless, and completely defenseless.

I would really like to take advantage of so many glorious VWs in a natural
setting and try my darndest to get some great photos.  If your VW really
can't make it here and you bring something else please understand that I
will want it out of sight when I am taking photographs. There is a gate to
the side of the property where it should be easy enough to park non-VWs.

The Real Ale Brewery is about 13 miles from my house.  They have tours on
Fridays only.  So if you can get here earlier on Friday maybe some of you
will want to check it out.  Here is a link to their tour info:
http://realalebrewing.com/about/tours

There are also wineries all around the Hill Country but I don't really know
about their tastings and tours. But I do know that there is a company that
takes folks around in an air conditioned VW Bus to tour the wineries.  Here
is a link to the info about this:  http://www.vintagetoursoftexas.com/

I love The Saltlick in Driftwood.  Yummy BBQ but it is about 27 miles from
my house.  Maybe worth a stop on your way to or from my place.  Here is the
link if you would like more info:
http://www.saltlickbbq.com/

In Wimberley there is a place to go ziplining.  I have never been but I have
heard it is fun.  It is about 18 miles from my place.  Here is a link if you
are interested:  http://www.wimberleyzipline.com/

Or just come and hang at my place.

So who is hoping to make it?
