It really kinda amazes me how well their system has scaled. When I signed up on May 8 2004 there was only 3 other lists that started with the letter "T". Now the TCB is behind 2 other lists that start with "TC". Even their web server is slow today.

It's not you. The list is hosted at a place called freelists.org. The
servers there are REALLY busy and if they are doing any maintenance or are
getting hammered by a spam run then it takes a while for incoming messages
to get posted and sent back out by the servers. There have been days in the
past when they were doing upgrades and had a lot of the servers offline
that it took over 6 hours for messages to post. It doesn't happen often and
it's a really cool service for free.
