No, it's not off of the same bus.  The deck lid I picked up at a VW shop estate 
sale in Beaumont.  Tranny seal on that tranny should be good but those things 
cost almost nothing, like a buck or two.

actually, i did replace the rear main just before going to denis' house...i
checked the tranny seal and it looked good but might just replace and i'll
check the clutch while it's all apart.

is the transmission off the same bus my decklid came off of?
