It's hard to tell anymore what anything is worth. You've all seen the BJ
auction. But re doublre cabs, story I got was that Mike Doarn sold his a
couple of years ago for $34,000. Total original resto cept wrong colors, wrong
interior, and chrome in all the wrong places. Not knocking the truck, it was
really nice, just not correct for an original.

I guess that's why I like to keep at least one ratty running Bus around; no
matter which model it is. I used to haul Bus parts in my '62 23w when it was my
only Bus *gasp*! I'll bet I still have a picture of it loaded to the headliner
somewhere. I don't see using this new purchase that way though. We left early
this morning and have gone 525 of the 1330 miles at this point.
Enjoy your weekends,

Some of this description just makes me laugh. "It comes with a complete set
of oak bed slats, unattached, which can be set in the bed for a show, and then
removed." God forbid you should get a scratch on your commercial truck's
hand-sanded-to-perfection bed slats! I wonder if he rolls it off the trailer
into a hermetically sealed bubble in his garage when he's done at the shows? So
people pay professionals to build them a bus with the intent of getting it in a
VW rag to elevate the resale price? I should be happy that this bus may ship to
Japan as my "beautiful double cab will continue to grow in value."

I will have to watch this auction. At $20+ (reserve not met!) I guess I will
be able to finance my kids college education after all- apparently the bus
scene is getting too expensive for regular Joes anyway.

'59 Doublecab <-- actually takes the family camping & hauls stuff in the bed
