I ignored them last year and was careful to make no statements about them. They
drew 114 cars. Most of them rat rods, sand rails, dune buggies and watercooled.
We have never been able to make the watercooled people happy. Once we even
offered to set them up with their own section across the street at the high
school. Well, now we are discriminating against them, segregating them. The
head jerk is named Rob Wintercorn. He has lived in and around Eureka for many
years and he is widely disliked. He was drummed out of the police reserves. He
tried a Scion show at the Hotel but was told not to come back after the first
year. He drives a rust covered Rabbit with plastic seats and a PLYWOOD
DASHBOARD.
They took about 18 cars from us last year.
You know how much sometimes heart breaking work it is to do a GOOD show. And
then something comes out of left field that makes just so close to too hard.
I think it might kill our show. Like I need this? I had to send a personal mail
to their President because they said on one of their many Facebook pages that
we were “collaborating”. I pay for a million dollar insurance policy. I had
emails from people asking if their entry fee covered both shows. If they think
I am paying for their insurance they are delusional
Please, pour it on. I can’t. But I would be delighted if you would cut them a
new asshole daily.

Subject: [tcb] More on Eureka
At the risk of starting an all-out war: Here is a copy of the text that I just
posted on the Foul Air Face Book page.
At the DubSplash show someone placed a flyer for a Foul Air show in my VW.
Understand that this show is not only the same weekend as the traditional
Eureka Show but taking place in Eureka just down the road from the traditional
show. And not only do the two events conflict in just about every respect you
are also having a parade through the streets of Eureka. Is this a separate
parade or are just planning on crashing the traditional show's parade. In my
many years of attending VW events and being involved in the VW community never
have I seen anything more unethical nor harmful to the VW community as a whole.
The long-run outcome is that you will probably kill the long-running
traditional VW show and probably your own for the future in Eureka. I have
looked at a lot of your photos and I understand why you do not care for a
"normal" VW show; it does appear that most if not all of your cars are not show
worthy and well deserve the title of your club, i.e., FOUL.
There is a place for everyone in the VW community, and I don't mean to rain on
your parade; but what you are doing with trying to develop a conflicting show
is downright unethical and IMO will harm not only your club but the VW
community as a whole in the long run.
You want to have a show in Eureka for a bunch of rusted out VWs, schedule it
for next spring. Or take your show to the middle of Kansas.
