Great trip report! I keep vacillating on vehicle choice for the Journey To The End End Of The Earth. I can take the vanagon and worry about all-good-things-bus-related or I can take the Ford Ranger and have no fun or I can take the company Town & Country (they pay for gas! but I can't tow anything, such as a motorcycle). So it's take chances breaking company policy because I'm towing a motorcycle, drive a dependable pick 'em truck with nowhere to sleep or drive Freedom. Gas ain't that bad yet. . .at least not bad enough to lose a job over. I estimate fuel costs for roughly 6,000mi. to be about $1,330 at $4 per gallon @ 18mpg. And we'll save on hotel costs. No kids joining me except for a few adult children. All long time friends, which includes Cindy. I can imagine the feeling riding in a bus going to such a huge event with your son on board. It's great seeing the kids joining the fun at the bus/VW events. Ed, Jeff, Trey and Chris set the scene this past weekend. Family heritage, and all. _________________________________________________________________ E-mail for the greater good.
