I wonder how things would go if I trailered him a Bus and picked it up when he was done? You know, without being able to check in on him and follow up in person. Does he hammer out dents only, or can he weld as well? Do they have phones and E-mail out there in Arkansas? Since I was dumb enough to leave my convertible '68 Ghia with him and said "no hurry" he has had it for about 8 months. I considered it free storage. Then one day he calls and says "I'm ready to do Ruby (her name) but I need money for the paint. It is a root beer gold flake that he has to special order 'cuz "there ain't nobody out here has no gold flake" So I go by and give him $425. Then he keeps telling me that it will be done as soon as the flake comes in and then he tells me tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. I begin to worry that he has used the money I gave him to buy whores and exotic chickens, but I went by today and there she is, sitting in the sunshine and looking gorgeous. He also painted my 40 year old Kitchen Aid mixer the same color ( which is another story, but way cool. It was avocado), and he tells me that he needs some more money. He had to buy her a new battery because he had to jump the old one every time he needed to move her, it wouldn't take a charge. I had offered him $100 to "rush" the job so after I give him that I ask him for the total bill. He tells me Twenty more bucks. That means that the total bill for rebuilding the whole area around the left headlight that was completely crushed and repairing a deep gouge about 18" long in the apron behind the rear seat and taking out about a million stone chips and crap and taking off all the chrome and painting the entire car in root beer gold flake, and don't forget a new battery, $650. Having a paint and body man that will do honest inexpensive work. Priceless. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul Buck" <pbuck337@xxxxxxxxx> To: <tcb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, April 20, 2005 5:58 PM Subject: [tcb] Re: the classic > > Is the Bluebonnet Cruise Saturday starting the same place as last year? > I'm bringing a cruise in from Houston, allowing 5 hours for the trip. > I'm hoping to get there early, but you never know.
