Glad you responded Denis. Thanks for all your efforts. It really gets to me
now that I will not be able to be there. I just can't believe that some other
club would do what the Foul Air people are doing. They are even advertising a
parade. Apparently, as I gathered from some other comments, they are not going
to have a parade, they are just planning to join in on yours. So how does that
impact the insurance coverage. If one of their cars bangs into a kid on the
parade route and the kid gets lock jaw (I've seen some of their cars) are they
going to try to horn in on the VVWCA insurance also. I would assume they do
not have insurance for their show. In all my years of participating in all
types of sports car and VW activities I have not witnessed something so
unethical and downright callous. It stinks is all I can say.

trying not to start that war Hi everybody. It’s Denis from the Eureka Springs
Show. I have received so much pissed off e-mail and phone calls about the Foul
Air Klub and their decision to hold a different show for themselves on the same
weekend as the Eureka Springs 3-Day VW Festival Swap Meet and Tourcade that I
must respond. This is our 24th show. We have done our best to make it a great
and entertaining and prestigious show. Our trophies and awards have been
recognized by Hot VW Magazine every year, since I don’t even know how long. We
have 30 classes and 1 unjudged. We have 4 water-cooled classes. I am going
through all this to say that if anybody thinks that we have ever discriminated
against any VW they are wrong. We pay more than $8000 to local businesses,
services and charities. The struggle to break even is scary. It doesn’t take
much to make the show a financial loss. We carry a one million dollar insurance
policy. All attendees at the Eureka Springs VW Show are protected. When the
overflow show said that we were “collaborating” I got two e-mails asking if
registration fees were good for both shows. We will not be responsible in any
way for any other activities anywhere ever. You will not be protected anywhere
ever unless that event carries their own insurance. The point is that we go
through a huge effort to put on THE Eureka Springs VW Show (or the “show in the
hole” as they say. It might upset me that somebody shows up a slaps down their
show on our day and takes the advantages. From: sammie smith (Redacted sender

Best I could do; it got kind of beat up from being folded up in my trash file.

And for the record... this is NOT my show... just researched it trying to find
more info on whats going on. Very poor taste in my opinion having a show on
the same day in the same small town. Most new shows get chastised for having a
show pop up the same weekend as another established show that may be 300 miles
away let alone in the same town.
yikes. On Mon, Jul 11, 2016 at 1:20 PM, sammie smith

Yep, I looked at some of the photos on the Foul Air FB page and did a little
research on what is going on. Just my opinion: but the concept stinks; and the
title FOUL really seems to apply to your concept and most of the cars shown.

Here's more info... Calling it an "Overflow Show"

"This alternative is for two main reasons, and is in no way considered or
meant to be a competition to the Eureka Springs VW Show. The reasons are:
1) - There is just not enough room for all the enthusiasts who come to the
lovely town of Eureka Springs.
2) - The town needs the revenue and treats every visitor so well. It's a shame
that so many people no longer come to this town because of the lack of show
space.
While we embrace that competitive car shows are necessary, our venue and
atmosphere is so much different. We are working together with the long running
show to encourage the high caliber of Volkswagens that enters to continue to do
so. Our show is more for daily drivers, campers, rat rods, or more simply, not
for trophy hoarders or trailer queens. Your car doesn't have to have shiny
paint or mirrors under the chassis to have fun at this show! Our show welcomes
air and watercooled Volkswagens, as well as other makes of German cars. "

post a photo of the flyer... very curious now... Are they helping sponsor the
Eureka Springs show, maybe they're advertising the Eureka show to help spread
the word I dont know.

What's the deal going on in Eureka. Got a flyer dropped in my panel van at
Dub Splash that indicates a show sponsored by Foul Air VW Klub that appears to
be competing with the normal Eureka show. That's nasty. In all my days of VW
shows, and that's a lot; have never heard of a club putting on a show in direct
competition with another. The flyer indicates a cookout Friday night at Pig
Trial Harley-Davidson, show on Saturday with parade to follow with awards to be
given out Sunday morning. How are they going to have two parades at the same
time in Eureka. I would like someone to explain what the hell is happening.
If it is what it appears I would strongly suggest a boycott of everything
associated with Foul Air. Sammie
