I love these 4 and a half day weekends(I should have worked for the Government). It started out Friday night after work.I headed up to Alvarado to the LQ. for some R@R then on to Ft. Worth Sat.morning.Lots of buses and nice Double cabs.Show was very well attended.Weather was perfect. Will is still alive and kikkin'and looked quite spiffy (first time I had seen Will dressed up).Swap was good and just seeing the guys NOS stuff was worth the trip.Sammie ,Bev and I cruised to Temple.I turned off at West because The Zone runs better on Kolatches. Spent the night in MPR.Picked BOB up Sunday morning and onward thru the fog to Austin VW.The fog was think for sure.I think we were the first or second there so I kinda worried about the turnout, but not to worry ,the place was rockin by 11:00.Lots of buses ,good swap meet and awesome people.Everybody talked about the rain ,but it didn't hurt the show at all .Austin is just Austin and I hope it will always remain that way.We saw lots of our people there ,Robb and family,Fire Bus Frank and his heard(great kids)Julie,Jeff,Duncan and Cindy and the kids,Dan Kinsey,Ira,I won a Julie original for being the crowds favorite "orange" vw at the show.which was pretty kool. The trip home was kinda like the Titanic with out the crash . But lots of fun .People at the gas station would stand in a pouring rain and ask questions about the truck. What a terrific 4 and a half daze, well 2 and a half anyway, the other two were spent planting palm trees and putting plants in for the winter, but phrasing an ad on TV ,that was kinda fun to.Sammie a guy in Temple has a 51 beetle,it's old school awesome, he said he bought in Austin earlier this year I think ?
