Thanks for your input Dan. Glad I can show you how open the world of VWs can be and help you with your Split-envy......I mean Bay therapy. I must be going through a mid-life crisis or something..........not...........Caren has let me be a kid my whole life with her.....I'm a very lucky guy. The one with the most toys wins.......... I will say that it is refreshing to see a split bus hoarder and vintage snob like you take a step into the unknown even if it is just a driver for your son until he gets his splitty back. Like I told you on the phone last night. No such thing as factory air in a bus. They were all installed in the states. A lot of them were installed by a company here in Houston. One of Denis' buddies (Dave Bolin) used to work there. Not rare. Three speed automatic late model bays are not rare. From what I understand several companies did handicap conversions on automatic buses. Here a link: http://www.type2.com/library/drivetra/handcont.htm The guy that wrote the article is active on the type 2 list. I would not call a bus with the fuel injection removed and a carburetor installed with a drop floor as super original or super unmolested.
