I'm excited to share news with you about an exciting leadership opportunity
for all sisters in the NCD to apply for: State Days of Sisterhood Liaison!
You'll find more information below, but briefly: all states will now have
an opportunity to host their own State Day of Sisterhood (formerly known as
State Day). This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills
on a district level, as well as to get to know your fellow sisters and
celebrate what makes your state unique! The application is now open, and
will close on October 15th, and can be found both on the District Resource

*What is a State Day of Sisterhood?*
The State Days of Sisterhood Program, formerly known as just State Days, is
an opportunity for sisters in each state of the North Central District to
gather to celebrate what makes their state unique, as well as connect and
bond with sisters around the district. While each State Day of Sisterhood
should be primarily catered to the chapters of the state in which it is
located, sisters are encouraged to travel not only to their own State Day
of Sisterhood, but also to other State Days of Sisterhood when they are
able! This program is intended to play into Tau Beta Sigma’s fifth
purpose: “To provide a worthwhile social experience for all engaged in
collegiate band work…”. Since they are unique to each state in the North
Central District, there is no set formula for what precisely a State Day of
Sisterhood should look like, but they typically include some kind of music
based event/activity, and social time.
*Who Plans State Days of Sisterhood?*
State Days of Sisterhood are planned by State Day Liaison Teams: teams of
two or three individual sisters from across each state, with the help and
supervision of the District Vice President for Special Projects and the
District Counselors. State Days of Sisterhood are not hosted or planned by
any particular chapter, and ideally are planned by sisters from different
chapters, though Liaison Teams may have more than one sister from the same
chapter, based on the number and quality of applicants for that
state. Each state has its own team planning its specific State Day of
Sisterhood, made up of sisters from that state. The State Day Liaison
position is a great way to grow event planning skills, and as a leader in
the district, and all interested sisters are encouraged to apply. From
conception to execution the planning of a State Day of Sisterhood should
occur over the course of about three months, though that timeframe is
flexible based on school and district calendars.
*My state has never had a State Day event before!*
As of the 2019/2020 academic year, it is now a goal of the District Council
to help every state hold a State Day of Sisterhood Event! Liaisons will
have plenty of help from the District Vice President of Special Projects
and District Counselors in order to plan a successful event! Every state
in the North Central District has the potential to have an awesome State
Day of sisterhood!
