I was blaming AVID marketing strategies, not SmartAV... And yes of course
Avid would never release
any source code... they prefer to buy and HIDE others code! (P)AVID would
be a much better name IMO :/
Anyway you gave me a really good news, I just knew the SmartAV guys were
considering the option
to release the source code...not that they actually did it!
So if possible could you, or anyone else that knows it ,please point me to
a download site / ftp
or any other way to obtain that source code?
I am a sound engineer but got quite some experience in MIDI coding/protocol
mangling/reverse engineering, and was honestly planning to re-code the
whole thing from the ground up, adapting it to my needs..
But if the source is out there, I'will definitely have a look into it, that
could lead to the chance of retaining/expanding on the actual software.

If we could find people willing to dig into the source, we could have an
open world with our Tangos.
I already tried to find a more powerful motherboard - which ist not that
easy due to 2 Ethernets ports needed on a low backplane.
There’S one out there that could match - it has a VGA daughter card (which
would not be needed in our case) and there are matching daughter cards with
Ethernet ports available.
The design of the underlying computer hardware and software was way ahead
the time they introduced this into the market.
AFAIK, AVID just came out last year with something similar like connecting
modules over ethernet.
I mean, a motherboard will most likely not die for decades (at least
that’s what I see when I look around in my rooms) - it’ll only be not fast
enough for the new(er) software that the software manufacturing companies
like to introduce every other year or so.

That's so sad but true.... and obvious ..having been rendered obsolete!
I think with the history behind these controllers we've all witnessed
one of the worst expression of "Market vs Quality" and what I honestly
call unfair competition, on AVID side... as usual.
Good luck everybody by selling one of these babies, I definitely decided
to hold mine, the chassis and faders alone worths more than the whole
things quote!
Hope to find soon some time to modify it.
