We ought to be able to do better than Steve's favourite, hadn't we! I'll save this little gave for when I'm sitting around waiting for something ... or in a car ...

If you lot have so much time on your hands just for fun
think of a word that contains the most key presses
without using predictive messageing. As an example the
word velcro has 6 letters and 17 key presses.

Hi Brian,

To make Eloquence say Kath correctly, put in as the
replacement string "K A T T H".

Now you owe me the prize <Smile>.

All the best

Hi Brian,

Do we get a prize for the winner? <Smile>.

How about putting Kath in the replacement string, with
a K instead of a C?

All the best

Hi
We have a challenge. We have been trying to teach the
talks dictionary to
say the name Cath with a short a sound, as in cat. We
have tried ever conceivable variation we can think of.
Can you help.

Hi,

On the E phones, it is not so easy without sight,
because you have to go
into Tools, Application Manager, then Options,
Settings, and the first option is Software
Installation. On all the E phones, this is set to
Signed
Only. You have to change this to All first before you
can install the synthesiser.

Talks is OK to install, but the synth will give this
problem, because it
is
not signed.

All the best

Steve

As far as performing the install of the application
your self, its actually fairly easy.
If you install the nokia application installer that
will come on a disk with the phone (you'll probably
have to install pc sweet at the same time), you can
enter on a sys file, press enter again on the
confirmation box and then the install screen will
come up on the phone.
From then on you have to do the install from the e71,
but all you have to do is press key 1 (Top left) to
ok all the message boxes - the phone beeps when a new
one comes up.

Note: When you plug the usb into the e71, you'll have
to press the center square button in order to
activate usb mode - its a bit hard to describe but
you'll know what I mean when the phones in front of
you.

On an unrelated note, hello craig, I had no idea you
were on here.

last time.
friend of mine wanted the n86 and they wouldn't give
him it because it's
not
been tested by vodafone propperly yet with talks
plus it has some issues
at
the moment.
the e71 was the only one they could offer me wierdly
enough but i wanted
that one.

I maybe going to have the same problem, I want the
N86 but don't think
they will let me have it on contract. I will go
elsewhere if they don't
and
they never put the latest versions of talks on
either, Carol ----- Original Message -----

just ordered the e71 off vodafone. they said
they can't send the phone
out with talks on and i'll have to go the shop which
is a pain in the proverbial. does anybody know if i
can install the talks software myself
then call them and have them lisence it for me?
otherwise, after the trouble i had last time i think
i'd rather bite the bullet and pay the 50 quid
transfer fee.
