It helps a lot, thank you. I was just wondering do you have to get them to lift 
any internatuional bar before you can text/call the US? Not sure about taht 
one, but thanks for the info re the charges.

  Any PAYG network will allow you to call and text the US but you may have to 
check the call charges.  I know that with Vodafone for example texting abroad 
costs 24p and with T-Mobile and Virgin it costs 20p.  I'm not sure of the 
calling charges however.

  I think that Orange has some special rates for international calling so you 
may want to speak to them.
