Thank you to everyone from both lists who made helpful suggestions regarding my problem with the new O2 pay monthly SIM card not working in my phone. In the end, I tried disabling Talks before putting the card back in and rebooting the handset. I knew the keystrokes to get Talks back if I was stuck, but it had no impact in any case as I suspected. Then I decided to try the SIM card in both my N82 and N86. While I appreciate both of these handsets are technically better in some ways than my beloved N91, I still have a very soft spot for the latter as I love its keyboard. As soon as I put the card into both these handsets, O2 came up loud and proud, and my messages began to come in. For this reason, which I still don't fully understand, I have chosen to revert back to my N86 because it gives me a far superior signal, and has K-Reader on it anyway. This means that my two N91 handsets do not work with O2 pay monthly, but worked perfectly on Vodafone with my pay monthly SIM contract, so I've sorted out the problem, but am left not quite understanding why O2 pay monthly didn't want to work in the N91. Still, a solution has been found. Perhaps the firmware in the N91 is now much older, I just don't know. But if you put a top-up ordinary SIM in them, they work as normal, as did my Vodafone pay monthly SIM . Thanks again though for all your contributions.
