Ok that is correct if you have an active screen. I thought when I offered my
help that you wanted to set up assigned keys on the phone in which case you
would have had the basic screen.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have cracked it now.
In case anyone is trying to do this, the way to access shortcuts on the Nokia
C5 is to move the Left and Right keys on the home screen and to press the
Select
key on the required shortcut, nothing to do with soft keys. I thought I had
tried this but, obviously not.
