Hi Matt

Have you thought about the 6220 Classic? This doesn't have WiFi connectivity,
but does support the K-NFB Reader software if that is to be one of your
considerations. It isn't my favourite phone though as the keypad is a bit on
the flat side, but that's just a personal issue, not a criticism.

Had a look at E71, but why do they put the stupid headphones connecter on these
phones? Why couldn't they just put the standard 3.5 like on N82? Means you have
to use their tacky naff headsets!

It also doesn't have a 5 MP camera or Xenon flash, so obviously the scanning
software won't work on it.

From a multi-media point of view, I think it isn't nearly as powerful as N82.

E66 is really old too to whoever mentioned that one!

Hi Mat.

If you haven't a problem changing networks, you can currently get the E71 on
three from as little as £20 on their promotional texter plan, 200 minutes,
unlimited texts and internet and 300 three-to-three calling minutes on an 18
month term contract. If interested, email me privately off list and I will be
happy to provide further assistance.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi, I wondered if anyone has a better idea of where to go next in terms
of phones?

When I started my T-mobile contract in 2007, they gave me an N95.
However, they ended up sending me 5 new handsets because each one I got was
damaged on delivery, GPS not working on one, No Wi-Fi on the next, damaged
casing etc etc. The 5th one was OK, but a few months after I got it I stupidly
stood up from my computer desk not realising the headphones had fallen into my
lap and snagged on my belt, and I pulled the bloody thing off the desk and the
display stopped working after it made contact with the floor!

Nokia admitted the N95 screen was very fragile compared to other
phones, but the repair was stupid money, so in the end I got an N82 with
insurance money, because T-mobile argued that as they had sent me 5 handsets
already, they weren't prepared to send me a 6th.

So, I've been using my N82 on T-mobile for around 12 months of my 18
month contract, and I'm now eligible for an upgrade, but remember the phone
T-mobile provided was the N95, not the N82.

So this leaves me in a spot because the phones T-mobile have offered me
are the N79 and the N96, which although much better handsets than the N95, are
not as good, or only just as good as the N82.

Some of you may argue with me, but from what I've read online, the N79
is roughly equal to the N82 in design and reliability whilst not as powerful
from a feature set point of view, and the N96's only advantage over the N82 is
the bigger memory. With both handsets you loose the Xenon flash, and the N96 is
a slide-phone which are notoriously easy to damage, flimsy and poorly built.

Some people advise me to hold on for the N97 which will have a qwerty
keyboard so it will be accessible to us, but because that phone will also be
touch-screen based, I'm not sure Talks will support it. In fact, I'm growing
very concerned now that Nokia are bringing out more and more touch-screen based
handsets because of the staggering popularity of the IPhone Touch.

Folks the N95, N96, N82 and N79's of this World won't be around
forever, and then what are we going to do? Nokia is rolling out new phones yes,
but the top-of-the-line handsets which feature many of the things we blind
users have come to depend on, are increasingly coming out with touch-screen
displays which we cannot use. I'm really hoping that Talks is going to come up
with something that will work on other platforms such as Motorola or Sony
Erikson for instance, otherwise in the next 5 years or so, we'll all be royally
screwed!

Anyway in the meantime, your advice regarding if I should take either
the N96 or N79 I'm being offered now, or wait for the N97 or some other Nokia
handset I'm unaware of at the moment will be much appreciated.

        Matt
