When ABLE accounts became a reality five years ago, they expanded the
opportunities for individuals with disabilities by offering a smarter, safer
way to save tax-free while maintaining the important benefits they may rely
on. To highlight World Financial Planning Day on October 6, we are launching
the Five Ways to Plan with ABLE United campaign - because even when life is
uncertain, individuals can be in control of their financial future. As an
added incentive to complete the first item on the list, now until October
13, when an individual completes enrollment online and contributes at least
$25, they will receive a FREE $50 contribution into their new ABLE account.

As part of National Guide Dog Month, Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) is
launching a short, animated video, to help create a more respectful, safe,
and inclusive public transportation experience for people who are blind or
visually impaired and their guide dogs.

The 4to24 app is a free resource for parents of children and youth who are
blind or have low vision and are between the ages of 4 and 24 years. If
you're a parent, the app provides information, activities, and links to
resources to inform you about skills and experiences that would be helpful
for your child as he or she grows. The focus is on building independence
over time to prepare your son or daughter for successful employment and
independent living as an adult.

Only once society not just understands but truly accepts the positives
people with disabilities can bring to the table, will they be able to feel
included in the future of humanity. As crewed flight missions are certain to
get longer, that means there will be more opportunities for catastrophic
mistakes to occur. That is why it is crucial to include the disabled in
space travel: We can help safeguard the ships of future missions, and we can
offer "the right stuff" that typical astronauts cannot. I can't think of a
better community to further humanity's ambitions in space than one that
already has to adapt to a planet that's not designed for them.

I was struck by a photograph circulating on social media recently showing a
railing at the Castel Sant'Elmo in Naples, Italy, with a view over the
Tyrrhenian Sea and Mount Vesuvius. The railing has an inscription in braille
in both Italian and English and visually impaired tourists are asked to
imagine the stunning view in front of them.
