[sysconfig1] DSL Question

Here's a question you may be able to help with. A friend of mine has MNSI
DSL internet and ever so often while he is online a message will pop up
saying he has the lost connection and he has to click the RETRY button.
After doing so, it works fine again. Is this common for MNSI? Does the same
thing happen with Sympatico?
If any of you have MNSI DSL service, what is your experience?
