Sean Wilson <whoooo26505@xxxxxxxxx> added Getting Started (the first thing
pls440 students must do):

Students who have just signed up for this course need to do the following once
the Quarter begins:

1. Sign up for the Course Email Group. The course email group receives emails for everything that happens on this website -- including notice of lecture and slide postings, announcements made outside of class, student questions and answers, etc. To sign up, please click here. (http://ludwig.squarespace.com/conlaw1-informationj/2010/8/7/01-how-to-subscribe-to-the-class-email-group-required.html) 2. Register your classroom data. You must register your classroom data. This includes your clicker serial number (located on the back of the clicker), your classroom "zone" (the area where you are sitting in the class), your UID and other information. To register this data, please click here. (http://ludwig.squarespace.com/conlaw1-informationj/2010/8/7/01-register-your-student-data-required-of-all-pls-440-studen.html ) 3. Learn how to use the website. To properly succeed in this class, you must learn how to use this website. Of particular importance is the ability to view lectures and slides (see button, "Lectures"). Perhaps the best way to learn is simply to press buttons on your own and fool around. However, there is also a help page that will show you many tips. It is located here. (http://ludwig.squarespace.com/conlaw1-informationj/2010/8/7/help-finding-answers-to-your-questions.html) Finally, you may ask questions here. (http://ludwig.squarespace.com/ask-a-question-for-pls-xxx/) 4. Read the Syllabus. You must read everything in the syllabus. If you do not know the course protocol, you will not know how the class is run. You also will make all sorts of mistakes that will surely hurt your performance and undermine your expectations. Perhaps the most important thing the syllabus does is get expectations between you and the professor straightened out. The syllabus is here. (http://ludwig.squarespace.com/conlaw1-informationj/2010/8/15/course-syllabus.html) 5. Learn how to use clickers. This class will not work properly unless you have purchased and know how to use "clickers." Your professor will explain this on the first day of class. He will also show you how to use clickers on the first or second day. If you have not seen this, or if you do not understand it, you should review that lecture immediately (press "Lecture" button on right hand column).
6. If you have missed a class, sit down and watch it. This class is "webcast" (see syllabus).
Therefore, the following is never allowed: "Professor, I wasn't here, what happened?" Everything
you need to know about what happened in class can be accessed by pressing the "Lectures" button. If
you miss, you have a duty to watch. If you don't understand something you saw in class, you have a duty to
watch. Please make the best use of this service that you can.
