The climate crisis is accelerating, and this kind of sprawl development adds
to it. The development does nothing to try to reduce its impact but instead
seeks to transfer impacts by using carbon offsets, a strategy which is
over-subscribed and susceptible to gaming. Stop amplifying climate change and
oppose Otay Village 13.
Our county has a General Plan to guide development, yet this project does not
meet the vision, goals, or policies of that General Plan. Otay Village 13
requests an amendment to build thousands of single-family homes in a high
fire area well away from any transit. Oppose Otay Village 13.
The Otay Village 13 site has burned up to five times in the last 125 years;
this project exposes people and structures to significant risk of loss,
injury, and death. When it inevitably burns again and burns down thousands
of homes, we will all be paying for it. Oppose Otay Village 13.
