This was an awesome tutorial without getting too much into the weeds of
audio editing. I agree that audio files should be treated with just as
much care as a photo. eBird has a nice rundown on their website of what
they deem acceptable edits to photos and they also have the same thing for
audio files uploaded to them. Everything that you did to this Marsh Wren
was well within their guidelines and is in my opinion all that really
should be done to an audio file before uploading it to ebird or
inaturalist.
I will confess that I do a bit more editing to pull the individual bird out
when I am using the audio for something like the intro to our podcast or
something. But just amplifying and adding a high pass filter across the
selection makes a world of difference in terms of clearing up a bird call.
