Columbia Estuary Report - 5/10/2022
The spring shorebird migration appears to have peaked over the
weekend, but there are still good numbers of _Calidris_ sandpipers
and Semi-Plovers around. Several RED KNOTS have been reported and
there are RED-NECKED PHALAROPES just about everywhere.
A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was reported over the weekend at Wireless Rd
Saturday. A Tule-form GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE has embedded
itself in the flock of more typical white-fronts near the sheep
field at Wireless.
A WESTERN KINGBIRD was there on Sunday and Monday. Another
kingbird was reported at the Ft Stevens Historical Area.
A VESPER SPARROW was at the junction of Pentilla and Jackson Rds
in Brownnsmead Saturday and Clair tells me the AMERICAN BITTERNS
are singing.
A LAZULI BUNTING has been coming regularly to a feeder in Seaside
and several have been reported elsewhere.
WESTERN WOOD PEWEE, OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, SWAINSON'S THRUSH and
WESTERN TANAGER all made appearances this last week.
