Maggie, We have community bathrooms in several of our halls. We have both types of gender breakdown. In the buildings that are mixed gender, the genders are separated by wing with card access on the wing so each community bath only has one gender using it. The “vintage” buildings do not have locking stalls for the showers. Only curtains, usually double curtain. For all of our newer buildings and our refurbishment buildings, we are building individual shower stalls with a locking door. The toilet stalls are locking in all situations but our showers stalls are separate from the toilet stalls. The resident rooms have sinks so there is only 1-2 sinks in the bathroom area. Since the bathroom is single gender, there are no locks on the bathroom door. They are open to everyone in the community but the toilet, sink and shower are all in the same room that locks from the interior. For 30 residents, there are 9 bathrooms like this on the floor. Hope that helps! On Fri, Dec 12, 2014 at 9:31 AM, Guzman, Maggie <Maggie_Guzman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx<mailto:Maggie_Guzman@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>> wrote: Hello, SWACUHO! I am doing some research on community bathrooms and would appreciate information regarding the questions below. 1. Do you have halls that have community bathrooms (as opposed to private in-room or suite style)? If so, are those halls single gender, coed or both? 2. Do your community bathrooms have showers with locking stalls or curtained stalls? 3. Do you lock the doors to the community bathrooms 24/7? If so, how do residents access those bathrooms (room key, separate key, swipe card, PIN code on a keypad, etc.). Does this vary depending on the gender of the building? Thanks so much for your time, and have a great winter break!
