A big advantage of the UltraSparc is multithread support -- it's breathtaking
to watch a thousand threads running at 99% efficiency without missing a beat.
A big advantage of multithreading is how easy it is to program parallelism and
interprocess communication, compared to using clusters or other distributed
models. This used to be a big economic advantage due to sharing of expensive
memory, but that's gone now... -- William
