Presumably, dextrose monohydrate would burn slightly cooler than anhydrous
dextrose. Do we think the temperature difference would be the same as
adding the appropriate amount of free water in Propep? In that case, I
think we're looking at a temperature drop of about 50C, though it varies.
Is there a way to accurately control the water content in order to get
consistent results?
This is for reducing temperature in a very small, end burning motor that
will burn for 15 or 20 seconds and has an aluminum casing. Have already
melted one.
It would also be fun to make propellant from Karo syrup.
Meanwhile, I'm trying overly rich mixtures, but I imagine with water I
might not lose quite as much power for a given temperature drop.
At the moment, I've been making fuel based on KNO3, sugar, epoxy, iron
oxide and eye of newt. The fuel with paraffin hasn't worked out so far.
Prefer to avoid cooking fuel, but if I have to, I'd rather keep the
temperatures as low as possible, which I guess you can do with dextrose
monohydrate.
