Richard, I had wondered if a pure form of Sodium Laureth Sulfate would be
less of an effect on burn rate? My thinking is that the other impurities in
the product might cause the burn rate reduction. Unless people don't like
rocket trails with split ends or smell good. lol But seriously I did find
where you can get it if someone wanted a purer form.

Looks like it's inexpensive enough if someone wanted to try it in it's pure
form. Considering the small amounts needed the bath gel is the way to go.

The use of surfactant to reduce slurry viscosity and make for much easier
casting is something that I feel holds great promise. However, I must admit
that I have done only very limited experimenting....too many other rocketry
projects on the go. :-\
Here is what I have learned.
Foaming bath gel with "sodium laureth sulphate" as the primary ingredient (make
sure its is exactly this, not "sodium lauryl sulphate") works very well to
reduce the slurry of KNSB such that it pours like water. Only a tiny amount is
needed, I believe it was 0.2%...a few drops. Whether or not other products such
as shampoo will work, I cannot say.
The reduction of viscosity of KNDX is less than KNSB, but still noticeable.
I found that burn rate & impulse is only slightly affected (reduced) by the
surfactant.
Check out Scott Jolley's excellent website for a LOT more details, he's the
developer of the surfactant method.
