Sheila: Unfortunately, the only suggestion I have is to be sure your sound card driver is the latest version, and check on this from time to time. Intercom Mode is great for those who need it, but it is really operating near the limits of what can be expected from a sound card driver. Many sound cards don't support a multimedia mixer as you know, and not all sound cards support it the same way. Yanking the sound card around as Intercom Mode does was the only way we could meet this particular need, though I wish there was a better way to accomplishit. It might also help to try a different (cheap) card, though I know you've been down this road before. We have made several changes in hardware recently (new computer, new sound cards, and new monitor screens) and are now having an intermittent problem with the intercom. When we go into record over mode, sometimes, I can see visually that we are recording, but the monitor function does not work for either the narrator or the monitor. In other words, the software indicates it is recording, and the peak meter is registering audio being recorded but we are unable to hear what is being recorded. Simply stopping the record process and then starting and stopping playback returns everything to normal and all functions work as expected. This happens at least once or twice during a 2 hour live studio recording session. Any suggestions? Sheila Winther Volunteer Services Coordinator Idaho Commission for Libraries 325 W.
