Jean,
According to some recent feedback from Rob Meredith from APH, Studio Recorder
(and other similar programs) handle editing a bit differently than programs
like a Word processor with which one might be more familiar.
I believe he called it “anchor editing”. Thus when a selection is made, the
selection remains in place even when one navigates to a new position. With a
Word processor, if you move away from the selection the selection disappears.
Anyway, from what I understand, since the selection stays in place when you
move to a new location and try to paste, the paste actually occurs in the
selected region. Thus you don’t get the pasted copy where you might expect if
you were using a word processor. Thus with Studio Recorder you have to clear
the selection with “C” before pasting so that the program knows you want to
paste at the new location.
Not sure if I got the explanation exactly right since this also confused me for
a long time. Although this is mentioned in the Studio Recorder help doc, it is
difficult to pull out even if one knew to look for this.
In either case, hitting “C” before pasting seems to work and it sounds like
your problems are fixed.
Enjoy!

Try hitting “C” immediately before the paste. This clears something that makes
the paste work!

Subject: [studiorecorder] pasting to repeat a sound in the same file
Hi all,
I must be missing something because this sounds too obvious to me😊
I have a file which is a sound, surrounded by 1.5 seconds of silence on each
side. I want that sound repeated 3 times… So here’s what I do:
1. I press <space> to get past the sound, then press <space> again to
stop. I then select to beginning;
2. I press <ctrl+c> to copy that selection; so far so good. I press
<shift+space> & I can hear my selection;
3. I move to the beginning of the file, then press <space to go past the
sound, then I press <space> to stop it;
4. I press <ctrl+v> to paste the selection I have previously made;
5. My selection is gone from the clipboard because pressing <shift+space>
yields nothing. However when I go back to the beginning of my file, I do not
hear my sound twice & its length hasn’t changed… In other words, the paste did
clear the selection but never materialized in my file…
Thanks for sharing your musings.
Cheers,
