Thanks very much Bob. I will share this with my colleague who is having the
volume issue. We are not using any compression.

Are you using some kind of compressor or limiter? If not, this is normall. A
dynamic narration with many soft passages will cause this. If you are using a
compressor, make sure it is functioning.

Subject: [studiorecorder] Volume Issue
Hi, this issue arose the other day (see below)
Hasn’t happened before.
Our goal is to record within the -18 to 24 db range. Usually we are there. Now
this -27 reading seems too low, even though the color bar indicates that we are
in the range that has always been good for us - yellow occasionally going into
the red.
Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions.
Thanks!!
Anne
"I was monitoring a narrator yesterday. Several of my monitors noticed
something so I went in to see for myself.
The narrator is reading and her recording is registering in the volume high
yellow and into the red zone.
However, the RMS is reading -27."
