Greetings List.

You should know that with a recording device which lets you monitor
while recording, you need not use any secondary sound cards and routing
issues.

1. Plug one end of an audio patch cord into the speaker-out jack of your
system's sound card, the other into the line-in jack of your recording
device (not microphone!).
2. Plug a headphone into the headphone jack of your recording device (so
you can actually hear what your conversee is saying).
3. Plug your microphone into the microphone jack on your sound card.
4. Go into volume control and unmute your microphone's playback option
(if there is one).
5. Your sound card will now be pumping your microphone, as well as audio
from your computer into the recorder. This is good for more than just
Skype recording, as you can imagine.

Obviously, this trick won't work if you're using either a USB headset or
separate USB microphone.

Kai
