I can open it in iTunes. But SR is sooo much more user friendly, so it's my
go-to program.

.mp3 File

My first guess is that the MP3 is corrupt or the download did not complete. 
Have you tried opening this particular file in another player? I must admit,
that is about the least helpful error message I've seen.
