Neal:

At this point, it really isn't a Studio Recorder problem, since you can exit
Studio Recorder and still have no speech. What you need to do is get into the
Windows volume control, and turn up the main output level, and the wave output
level, and make sure they are both unchecked.

You could hit Windows+R and type sndvol32 to get into the volume control from
anywhere. At that point, you should be on the first balance control. You would
probably be ok to press Tab followed by Home to turn up the first fader, then
thre tabs and home to turn up the next fader and so on.

If that doesn't work, close the volume control and restart it so you know where
you are. Then, try hitting tab twice then space bar to toggle the first mute
switche. You could then continue hitting Tab Tab Space to toggle successive
mute switches. Of course, if they are already not muted, you aren't making your
life any easier!

Finally, if this doesn't work, find a USB sound device, plug it in, and use it
to get your other sound card going. The H2 works for this, but you have to know
how to make it a sound card.

When you do get speech back, just be sure Intercom Mode is unchecked in the
Options menu, and don't work about the Intercom Settings.

Hi, I have a new computer running a SigmaTel sound card. I was playing
around in the intercom settings and pressed automatically enable line for
recording. I may have pressed some other buttons as well, but now, my sound
card has no speech. At one point, it would speak with JAWS as long as I had
Studio recorder loaded, but when I closed it, JAWS and all other speech went
away. I tried to get it back to what I thought the settings would be, and
now I am back to no speech at all. Can someone tell me what the default
monitor settings are. You might have to walk me through the steps to do
this with no speech. If you want to call or skype me, that would be OK too.
I would appreciate any help I can get because I am dead in the water with no
speech for JAWS.
