I will hack at the vine and try to get him free and back to the mount. "We are
leaving!"

Are you attacking the vine around him or going for the main body of the tree?

If I am able to attack, I will attack to free Elmore.

Subject: [stoddard] The retreat
As the party makes a tactical advance to the rear, Sean remains in flight above
the boulders. Between Sean and Xander, the chanting boulder went down. I think
I told you that. So two wounded and one unwounded one remain. Sean puts six
more arrows into or near the one Elmore and Johnny wounded. He can remain
beyond those two rounds, if he wishes and still has arrows in his quiver.
The boulders have started to shuffle after Ahearm but they are moving slower
than he does. By the end of the round Elmore and Ahearn are down near the altar
stone. The trees by the altar whip out their ropelike appendages. One of those
appendages seems to wrap Elmore up tight. He will be dismounted by the tree.
Ahearn is a bit ahead of Elmore. Holly and Sean are closest.
