We really need a lead lined room. With cork acoustic dampening tiles as well.
The following only occurs with only party members around, and in as secure a
site as we can have.
"I fault not the Count for grasping, as Lady Carandolana put it. And there can
be no doubt that Lazziar and Namys are utterly different. Lazziar is better at
keeping things close to the vest. He warned me that Namys might not be
trusted. I trust Lazziar to do exactly what is best to fulfill Lazziar's
orders. Any actions looking remotely as if they were looking out for our best
interest would be purely coincidental. So, we play him like he plays us. I
can act the podunk hick to his cosmopolitan High Elf. Part of the reason for
the braggadocio. He plays all knowing wise man of the elder race. But we know
his folk are stagnant. He was surprised that Myndur Luzrid's lair was so
close. He has old knowledge, but nothing practical to weigh it against. The
lich apparently abducted two elven women likely a millennium ago, and they did
nothing about it. The dragon killed a Countess, and they did nothing about it.
We are the fresh blood that revitalizes. They are the old blue blood that
fears their own shadows." Sean pauses.
"That said, I truly wish good neighborly relations, and do not wish to provoke
them to their former stature out of anger against us. We have much to learn
from them. Their knowledge is vast, though their ethics are not my cup of tea.
They play a longer game, but the very nature of such a play necessitates
manipulation of others, ourselves included. Perhaps my shorter lifespan causes
me to have doubts about their long game, or any long game. Ii think we can
mutually use each other, and I think we can best do that by allowing them to
think they are smarter than us. We know better. But, no, we must retain
possession of the books."

So, we're already trend setting with a Sea-Dwarf Prince, no we can introduce
the divine Right of Kings to the plane.
Joking aside, much as Sean has enjoyed the company of Count Lazziar and the
Lady Namys, about the only book he is willing to give to the elves is Low-Down
Dirty High Elves, if for no other reason than to keep himself from quoting from
it. If the Lady wishes to send scholars to study our library, that would be
permitted, provided we could send scholars to study Elven texts, or at least
have access to them. Sean recommends the elves build a compound in the Cove
for their scholars, who would be afforded access to study the materials.
Knowledge is power, and while Sean is willing to share it, he is unwilling to
give it away.
That said, it is not his decision to make.
And, all that aside, Sean feels strongly that if we are going to gift anyone
these books, the giftee should be Kendrick.
Sean is interested in "Corrupting the Forest", "Corrupting a Paladin", and
"Becoming an Animal". Oh, and the Key to Magic.
We now seem to have an interesting collection of necromancy books as well as
devil and demonology texts

Holly will find out the
doors are silver-plated over an iron frame. Trehik thinks they can recover the
gold separately given a bit of time. They will move cautiously.
Count Lazziar will ask what
you found? Anything of particular interest?
It is payroll day tomorrow,
please deduct:
Hagar 4592 gold
Elmore 1290 gold
Ahearn 606 gold (this has
gone up as you are now covering Estra's expenses)
Holly 408 gold
Xander 110 gold
Sean 220 gold (covering
Agatha's costs one of the joys of getting to 8th level)

Sean is ready
whenever everyone else is to head north. I think everyone but Holly and Hagar
are coming along. Steve knows better how much time Sean is going to need, but
I suspect, given the new powers, training will take a while. And that doesn't
include all the other things that are on Sean's agenda. Just need to know how
much money he has to spend.
