Nope. Remember Petrichor, erstwhile Tender of the Bear Creek Circle? He's
running a halfling resistance group on the Coatipids Islands, north-ish from
Aarell. Prompta. a barbarian of the Vulture Grabber clan that had come to
Aarell with a bunch of "new lords" including Lord Mayor Haglan, became drinking
buddies with Hagar and Sean (each has a vulture feather totem as a sign of good
standing with the clan). He went back to Stoddard to bring his clan to Aarell
to stake a claim, ended up going to Raychester and getting hired by Grajik
Bearbane to combat the Halfling People's Liberation Front of the Coatipids (not
to be confused with the People's Halfling Liberation Front of the Coatipids -
OK, I made that part up).
In addition, Sean learned from a Red Vulture Grabber named Two Feathers, but
who the elves of the Lady of the Waters call Sheila, that the Vulture Grabber
tribe has two subgroups, the Black Vultures (Prompta is a Black Vulture) and
the Red Vultures.
I try not to make up too much stuff in Steve's world (I think I may have made
up the Speaker title, and Sean certainly made up the Sea Dwarf Prince thing).
I have ample things to make up in my own campaign.
Steve has a very rich world to explore. Even if you just do it by talking to
his NPCs.

Stoddard's hobbits are waging a successful ethnic cleansing campaign on the

and are pacifying the hairy-footed folk.

Sean has a plan for that. He calls it "The Netherlands Project". Dyke off
sections of swamp, pump out the water. The portions nearest the rivers would
be pumped out by the river. The making of the dykes would be the most labor
intensive part. Some get pumped completely dry, some get pumped low, like rice
paddies and cranberry bogs. Leave others like ponds to farm raise fish. I
suspect the soil would be quite fertile. And to keep it inline with the
Netherlands, maybe plant some tulips.

make profitable. I hope to find minerals to mine, we can farm somewhat. I am
hoping we can act as an intermediary between inland communities and the wider
world. I truly think we can make a go at ship repair and building, though not
so much building until we have the lumber. That requires capital outlay. But
the simpler stuff, fishing, farming, basket weaving from all the marshland
reeds, other agricultural enterprises, such as cheeses if we have milk to use,
mushrooms, herbs, fermented spirits. I've been talking about it for some time,
my thoughts on the subject are well known. And that is just what settlers can
do. We have John Mac and Hagar who could do well training fighting men.
Xander has an apprentice. Holly will be directing the less savory aspects of
society. You could possibly set up some sort of seminary. I am still
interested in establishing a library, assuming books can be secured. And
speaking of books, it is possible we can make papyrus from all the marsh reeds.
And, soon enough, we can sell loose dragon scales as souvenirs." Sean smirks.

free enterprise. Household wineries would need a cooper though. "
