Just so happens the JV squad has a smith in their ranks. Though we have no
idea if Sicarius will remain with the party. He's currently, technically,
under contract to Holly, though the rest of the party contracted has either
withdrawn or gotten killed. Sir Ambroz seems to have glommed onto them.
But, yeah, iron grates would be a good thing. Frankly, given the relative
scarcity of raw materials on this island, Sicarius would suggest stockpiling
captured weaponry to be repurposed. Smelted and recast. Like the fellow in
Foolsmarch does. (Not that Sicarius even knows about him).
From a completely boring, non-heroic perspective, finding a vein of iron ore
would be excellent. Copper and tin as well. Precious metals seem secondary.
Just wondering about the thirty one sacks of copper and silver... didn't we
already get experience for those? I wonder if they are what we left with the
bugbears?
I admit, I kinda like the idea of getting experience for them twice. It's like
the government taxing your income, and then your investment income made from
investing your already taxed income

I recall that conversation as well. If you have to, could have a smith make
iron grates over them so can pull them up if people aren't happy with planking
like they were found. Learning how to do indoor farming to make the place
somewhat sustainable in a siege would be good. I think there was talk about
making a fish farm in the portion that was holding water. Yes, I'd agree those
pits could have multiple uses including their original use, for defense.

As for the pit traps, I don't know that we need to expend time sealing them.
Bridging them would suffice. They might make useful storage rooms, as it were.
Cisterns to hold fresh water. Once we talked about growing mushrooms or other
fungi in them. Hell, they would make good cells.

There are vents in the cavern of Lake Duthoron, but that means dealing with

The sacks are mostly copper and silver. The sarcophagus also has a velvet
lining; it is an odd greyish blue color. Unlike the other one in the crypts.
This one was plain.
Bobby is setting up a cooking fire on the back porch so he doesn't fill the
caverns with smoke. He does suggest the druid could make him a vent deeper in
the caverns if she was in the mood.

Detect poison will garner nothing. Detect magic will identify items
in the sarcophagus, something under a group of six bags of coins, something
within the walnut chest, and items (probably scrolls) within the leather
portfolio. Assuming the group opens the sarcophagus, they will find a single
well decorated (with jewels) broadsword in excellent condition. The portfolio
includes four scrolls. The item under the sacks is actually a finely crafted
longbow with a detailed carving of an angel itself using a greatbow.

The party is able to make it to the front of the cavern. They
will find nothing remaining. Sean will be able to recover two silver arrows
near the rear of the cavern where he fought the shadows. If Alga gets close to
the pile of treasure, he will be very excited.
The treasure pile assuming you all eventually go through it
will include; a large bolt of canvas, a bottle apparently of wine, a 20lb box
of charcoal, a flask of oil (or so it appears), a large rolled-up carpet (it
might be green in color), a pitchfork with a fairly new wooden handle, a
smallish stone sarcophagus, the small Stoatan-sized cage of iron, a small
bluish gemstone, 19 arrows with odd red fletchings and green, gold, and blue
bands on the shanks of each, a single large walnut chest bound with an odd
silverish metal (it has a small brass padlock on it), and 31 sacks apparently
holding coins.
