“Sometimes it takes power to gain knowledge. They aren’t mutually exclusive.
Learning of the abilities of a rare monster and surviving it, that often takes
power . We’ve fought many things that would kill many people while discovering
ancient places. How many people around here know first hand knowledge of a
teleporter gate existing on this continent. Admittedly, so far as we ever
learned, it was set to a specific location, but who would know if in its
history, it ever had the capacity to be dialed or tuned to other locations?
It’s one of the more fascinating finds we’ve found in addition to the crypts
where I found Zazeriel and of course Zazeriel himself . Your blade and Xander’s
mage in a stick are other wonders. The petrified dragon temple was an
interesting thing, and minor discoveries of the ancient coinage and styles of
weaponry and armament. I still keep an ancient shield designed for overlapping
shield formation fighting back in my study along with my suits of armor and
original mace. Think there were settlements to the west of anything we’ve been
to that Zazeriel knows of. Whether they still exist as living communities or
are now ruins is anyone’s guess. A sedentary exclusively book scholar has to
wait on those discoveries to be made by others and hope they are chronicled. “

Sean muses. "If not the sake of knowledge, then for the sake of power. Or,
as you say, Extreme Misfortune." Sean ponders some more. "I prefer the quest
for power. At least it indicates a degree of self-determination."

elves should have all the time they really need to study anything, so it does
make me wonder what happened to my lost cousin. “ Elmore

Well, there were two of them and only one coffin that we found. It was quite
ornate, like in life, he once served good, vanquishing evil demons, devils ,
that sort. One of those undead elves escaped.

Sean shrugs. He missed that battle, he was killing shadows. "Alga likes
what is inside it, as far as treasure value. Maybe he's like an elven vampire,
and is still in there?"

You guys think that small coffin belonged to the other elf mage?

The party is able to make it to the front of the cavern. They will find

of the cavern where he fought the shadows. If Alga gets close to the pile of
treasure, he will be very excited.
The treasure pile assuming you all eventually go through it will include; a
large bolt of canvas, a bottle apparently of wine, a 20lb box of charcoal, a
flask of oil (or so it appears), a large rolled-up carpet (it might be green in
color), a pitchfork with a fairly new wooden handle, a smallish stone
sarcophagus, the small Stoatan-sized cage of iron, a small bluish gemstone, 19
arrows with odd red fletchings and green, gold, and blue bands on the shanks of
each, a single large walnut chest bound with an odd silverish metal (it has a
small brass padlock on it), and 31 sacks apparently holding coins.
