Otherwise, you are looking at a Monty Haul-like situation with the
interpretation of how the magic you want should work.
Again this was just an academic exercise, since I am stuck in a training
that is a waste of my time, but at least I can put it on my second screen
and check my emails on my first screen. I certainly didn't mean for this
to devolve into an "Elmore is more urbane than you short lived stinky human
types" argument. We have enough of them in character. I'm just explaining
how I would 'rule' on it were I the DM.

loaded every spell he had for healing for round one, and began sleeping for
a round two as round one still was not enough. He wants to do scrolls for
spells he doesn't use on a daily basis but are handy to have. That will
also cost I am sure, likely a lot more than 100 arrows now and then.

are probably way more common than healing potions. And you are paying to
load the dice, not to heal. How much does a luck potion cost? You could,
if you wish, just cast more spells or use more magic potions. Monetary
value is a flexible, relative thing.

spell effect to be maximized.... want to maximize five CLWs, cough up five
100gp citrines. Maximize a CSW, that is, what, a third level spell? so a
300 gp citrine?

He’s not normally a very indoorsy person, but if successful with his spell
research, the new spell could be a real game changer on days like today
especially after how so many of those spells went. He will probably try to

The beacon of hope spell would need to be researched. Elmore would need a
shrine and time to do so, plus a religious library. Probably some type of
offering to Farab as well, as he is the god of healing.
Assuming Elmore and Xander can use their healing skills to triage the needs
Ahearn and John Mac would get the CSWs. They each recover 11 HPs.
Hagar CLW recovers 3; Nesgrous 2HPs, Rarmuck, 6HPs; Manrug 8HPs,
Trehik 2HP; five gnomish archers receive 4,5,1,6,5 putting them all in ok
shape; Calbark who was unconscious earned 8! Elmore has two left. Ahearn
could use both of them, if that is your pleasure.
