I agree with you, Dave -- outstanding that they are interviewing Riddick and
personally I think he'd be a great hire (if they do choose to go outside the
organization -- which they should definitely strongly consider).

I think he’d be a really good fit regardless of the role he gets, he’s wired
in to the league and to the culture of today’s players. And this job is widely
regarded as one of the plum roles in this league, great ownership, established
winning culture, one of the best coaches in the league, competitive year in
year out - it speaks volumes of the Steelers that once again, on a rare
occasion where they have a prominent vacancy to fill, is that they are being
thorough, open minded, thinking outside of the box and taking their time to get
the right man for the job. Helps that Colbert won’t be leaving until after the
draft so they have some time on their side, but I think Riddick will be the 7th
person they will be speaking to about this role.

Can't speak for his competence at the job, but I find him to be a level headed
analyst. As you note he has experience and from what I have ready is easy to
get along with which is important.

Subject: [steelers_pb] Here's a name..... Now, here’s an interesting name I
thought of a couple of weeks back in relation to the Steelers GM job and
external candidates and I’d had conversations with a couple of people around
his possible candidacy and everyone agreed that he would be a very good person
to speak to and it is coming to pass - the Steelers are interviewing ESPN’s
Louis Riddick for the GM job.
He would be perfect, IMO. Former Pitt player, so he checks that box, worked in
personnel before, everyone who knows him speaks incredibly highly of him, he
understands the culture of the game well and knows the game inside and out.
Compared to the three guys they interviewed last week, I think he is the best
external candidate for the job.
I still think it will be a job share between Hunt and Khan, but this is my guy
if I’m going to bring someone in from the outside.
